Observations of Student Learning
During the students' discussions and activities, I observed their understanding of the function of camouflage. Students discussed various reasons animals would want to hide themselves as transcribed in my observers' notes:

Student Camouflage Creations
Left: These are the elephants the students colored with "camouflage" to hide them in various parts of the pod area. The students chose the hiding spot and the appropriate elephant colors on their own.
Below: The students' elephants in their hiding places. All four students demonstrated an understanding of how animals camouflage themselves by blending in with their surroundings. Especially impressive is the bulletin board camouflage featuring the blue and rainbow elephant! |
